This page is dedicated to provide a clear, overall review of ECEN survey information for interested
parties. Three sections including National Exam, Student Satisfaction and Instructor Satisfaction
are used to provide a broad picture of how the department has been evaluated in recent years.
National Exam
The national exam section provides a broad picture of how Oklahoma State students' results measure
against the national average regarding the Fundamental of Engineering Exam. For more detailed results
please view the FE Exam Results page.
The following graphs illustrate the number of questions correct compared to the number of questions
attempted for both OSU students who took the FE Exam as well as the National number of exam questions
that were correct and attempted.

GPA Information
The following data was calculated to examine the relationship between the students who took the FE Exam and the overall ECEN student body GPA.
- The calculation of the ratio of the average GPA of students who took the FE Exam to the average
GPA of all students was done to show the GPA relationship between the two groups. When the ratio is
less than one, this implies that the GPA average is less than that of the overall ECEN student body.
When the ratio is greater than one, this implies that the FE student GPA is greater than the overall
GPA of ECEN students.
- The GPA Point Difference is the the average GPA of students who took the FE Exam minus the
overall ECEN student body GPA.
- The GPA % Point Difference is the decrease or increase from one.

Student Satisfaction
The following section provides three areas of information regarding student satisfaction. The three
areas include senior opinions, student perception of courses, and the Electrical & Computer
Engineering retention rate. Specific results regarding the previous areas can be found on the
Senior Exit Survey and Course Survey pages.
Senior Exit Survey
This category within Student Satisfaction will identify the satisfaction of students as they
leave the ECEN program. Eight different categories concerning the ECEN program have been
consolidated to come up with an overall appraisal of the ECEN program. There are forty-one
factors within the eight categories taken from the actual Senior Exit Survey that were used
to measure the satisfaction of students. The rating scale ranges from one to five with one
meaning Not Important, Not Prepared, or Unsatisfactory and five meaning Extremely Important,
Very Well Prepared, or Excellent depending on the certain category the factor was rated.
For more details please view the Senior Exit Survey page.
The following graph measures the ratings given by ECEN students regarding the coverage and ability
related to course material. The averages for coverage and ability for each semester are shown.
For additional information regarding coverage and ability related to course material please view
the Course Survey Information page.
Coverage Scale
1 = Significant Exposure
2 = Moderate Exposure
3 = Little to No Exposure
Ability Scale
1 = I understand this material.
2 = I am familiar with this material.
3 = I did not learn this well.
Program Evaluation by Faculty
The final section includes information regarding instructor satisfaction including factors such as
professor opinion and time distribution of objectives in classes. For further details regarding
instructor survey information please refer to the Instructor Course Survey page. The following graph
measures the ratings given by ECEN faculty regarding the coverage and ability related to course
material. The averages for coverage and ability for each semester are shown.
