FRONTIERS OF POWER/BILL HUGHES SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

One of the outcomes of the long-standing (over 40 years) energy research program in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is the establishment of scholarships to encourage both undergraduate and graduate students to pursue their studies in the energy/power area.  These scholarships are named in honor of Dr. William L. Hughes, head of the school (1960-1976) who initiated the organized energy research program in the school with sponsorship from local and regional electric utilities, which continues to this date.  He also started an annual conference named Frontiers of Power Conference in 1968, which recently concluded its 36th edition.

During the 36th Annual Conference conducted in Stillwater on October 27-28, 2003, two undergraduate scholarships and one graduate scholarship were awarded.  Dr. Hughes personally presented appropriate certificates to the following students:

Undergraduate Scholarships ($400.00 each)

Ms. Kristen Kish

Mr. Nichol Kruckeberg

Graduate Scholarship ($600.00)

Mr. Swakshar Ray

Congratulations to all the awardees!
