ECEN Student Named Goldwater Scholar
 |
Oklahoma State University Electrical Engineering student Bryan McLaughlin
has been awarded the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater scholarship. Bryan competed
with other applicants for the scholarship in the areas of engineering, mathematics, and
natural sciences. Bryan's previous research work in computer controlled electronic
devices at IBM Almaden Research Center helped him to win the scholarship. In
addition to his research, Bryan has been very active in many OSU engineering activities. Bryan was president of the OSU student chapter of
Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers where he started the EKIDS program to
attempt to combat the declining enrollment in engineering courses by promoting engineering
and science at a young age. Also, Bryan has
been elected as the vice president for the American Indian Science and Engineering
Society, is currently the vice president of technology for the Mortar Board Honor Society,
and serves on the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology Student
Council. His current goals are to study abroad for a year before attending graduate
school on the West Coast. Congratulations
Bryan! |
