Talented Electrical Engineers in OSU

Cultures from around the world came together in the form of song, dance and costumes at the Mr. and Ms. International 2004-2005 Pageant, which was put on by the Oklahoma State University International Student Organization.

The purpose of this pageant was to promote international students countries, cultures and talent. That way many other students are able to learn and appreciate these cultures.

The pageant began with the introduction of each of the 10 finalists. Each contestant was able to display his or her country's traditional attire. Next, there was a guest performance by the Japanese Student Association's singing group who sang acappella.

For the audience, the favorite part of the evening was the talent round. The contestants were able to show their unique talents during the talent round, which featured everything from a comedy routine to native dancing and singing.  The night ended with a question and answer round, then a special performance by Mr. International 2003 Kriengkrai Boonlert-U-Thai and Ms. International 2003 Sandhya Nambiar.

At the end of the night, two new international representatives were crowned in front of a packed Student Union Little Theater. Juan Andres Galindo, representing Venezuela and Christine Garcia Co, representing the Philippines we named this year's Mr. and Ms. International.

Incredibly both Galindo and Co are Electrical Engineers. It must be an honor for the Electrical Engineering Department to have international talented students in their department.

This pageant is part of ISO's International Education Week, which involves all the countries that are involved at OSU, Lima said. The week long event promotes diversity and cultural awareness at OSU.
