Students in this area must take:

  • 3213 – Microcomputer Principles and Applications

  • 4213 – Computer-based System Design

  • 4243 – Computer Architecture

  • 4303 – Digital Electronics Circuit Design

 

Approved Area Electives:

Students must choose one course from List 1 and one course from either Lists 1 or 2.

List 1:

  • CS 3373 – Object Oriented Programming Visual C++

  • CS 3423 – File Structures

  • CS 3513 – Numerical Methods for Digital Computers

  • CS 4143 – Computer Graphics

  • CS 4273 – Software Engineering (=ECEN 4273)

  • CS 4283 – Computer Networks (=ECEN 4283)

  • CS 4323 – Operating Systems I

  • CS 4343 – Data Structures

  • CS 4413 – Compilers I

  • CS 4513 – Numerical Math: Analysis

  • CS 4763 – Artificial Intelligence

List 2:

  • CS 2653 – Discrete Math I

  • CS 3653 – Discrete Math II

  • CS 3613 – Theoretical Foundations of Computing

  • CS 3363 – Organization of Computer Languages

  • Any ECEN 3000 or 4000 level course

• At most 1 additional technical elective, as defined on departmental list and approved by area faculty.
