Master of Science and Ph.D. Programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering

Degree programs are offered at the Master and Ph.D. levels in Electrical Engineering. Major areas of emphasis in both course offerings and research include communications, speech and image processing, laser applications, computer systems, digital and analog VLSI design, electronics, control theory, real-time system control, renewable energy systems, electric power economics, microwave remote sensing, expert system development, and parallel processing. Research laboratories support numerous projects in optics, lasers, and control system development. Excellent computer systems are available including IBM RISC 6000 and SUN workstations, microprocessors and both UNIX and VMS mainframe systems. Supercomputer access is also available for those projects requiring this level of support.

Master's Degree Options:

  • 21 credit hours of approved coursework and 9 credit hours of thesis.

  • 33 credit hours of approved coursework

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering also participates in the Master of Manufacturing Systems Engineering program.

Doctoral Degree:

  • A minimum of 90 credit hours for acceptable academic work beyond the bachelor's degree including credit for the dissertation.
