Welcome to the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECEN) at Oklahoma State University . The School boasts 24 faculty members, including 3 IEEE Fellows and four recent and current NSF CAREER Award winners, along with approximately 425 undergraduate students and 160 graduate students pursuing the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees on both the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses. I’m especially pleased to welcome three new faculty members who joined the School in August, 2005. We continue to emphasize excellence in instruction and scholarship, as evidenced by a growing list of faculty and student accomplishments. Research and scholarly activities continue to expand. Thanks to an outstanding faculty, research productivity has grown dramatically over the past few years, increasing from $1.6 million in 2002 to almost $3 million in 2005. Our faculty continue to be recognized nationally and internationally for their qualifications and achievements. Excellent instructional and research laboratories are located in Engineering South and the Advanced Technology Research Center , a world-class facility located adjacent to Engineering South. Ground was recently broken on the Tulsa campus for a new state-of-the-art research facility. Research programs center around five primary thrust areas: telecommunications and signal processing, computer engineering, lasers and photonics, mixed signal VLSI, and power. OSU Highlights

Location - OSU is located in Stillwater, a north-central Oklahoma community with a population of more than 42,000. Among 634 small cities in the nation, 141 of those cities were classified as dream towns by the online publication Demographics Daily. Stillwater is No. 6 of the 141 dream towns, and it also received the "Most Wired City Award" from Yahoo.com. According to Federal Bureau of Investigation statistics, OSU Stillwater campus is the safest campus in the Big 12. Stillwater is approximately 60 miles from the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas and is readily accessible from other major population centers from highway and air.

Library - The OSU library has 2.1 million volumes, 1.3 million government documents, 18 thousand magazine subscriptions, and 3.7 million microfilms. The library in OSU  is a member of Association of Research Libraries (ARL)  which comprises 120 leading research libraries in North America. Covering six acres of floor space, the OSU library is one of the largest and most modern in the Southwest. It was one of the first major university libraries in the United States to make stacks open to all users.

Research - OSU is one of the top 100 public research universities, and it is also one of 150 Doctoral/Research Universities - Extensive in the US. The total research expenditures of OSU in 2000 were more than $95 million. The research expenditures of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT) were nearly $14 million in 2000.The research expenditure per CEAT faculty is $245,000 per year and ranks top 66 in the nation.

Ranking - OSU is 1998 America's No. 1 Best College Buy among 1430 four-year, public and private colleges and universities. The selection is  based on excellence in academic programs, low student-faculty ratio, a highly qualified faculty, high student ACT scores and low cost. OSU is also one of 1997's 100 most wired colleges in the US ranked by Yahoo. According to the US News report, the Engineering program of OSU is one of the top 70 Engineering programs in the nation. The School of ECEN at OSU has 22 faculty members, and it is aiming at one of top 50 EE programs in the country.
